Who Are They?
Our Elders are charged with encouraging our members' spiritual formation and growth. The board is comprised of eight chosen men who oversee the overall ministry of our church.
What do they do?
Each elder shares a part of the responsibility for the smooth running of our church. These spiritual leaders demonstrate a lifestyle of worship and thankfulness and help to build those characteristics within the congregation. They are also charged with making disciples and demonstrating discipleship. They are ready and willing to do evangelism as they encourage our body of believers to do the same. Each Elder also has a 'care' list of people within our congregation. They pray for and with each person on their list and keep in contact to encourage our members in their faith journey.
Why do they do it?
Paul encourages our elders in 1 Peter 5:2-3 when he says:
“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
When do they meet?
The elders meet once a month for prayer, Bible study, and discussion regarding the overall management of our church.
